Job Description

General Motors Sales Operations provides the sales organization with tools, data, and resources to enable the team they support to drive the business.

We are looking to hire Product Managers to join our Sales Operations team and the responsibilities will include:

Scope Management

  • Aligns with project stakeholders in evaluating the feasibility of solutions proposed.
  • Expertise in verifying, controlling, and leading changes to scope and keeping projects on track, while identifying viable trade-offs when necessary.
  • Understanding in using various techniques to collect requirements, e.g., focus/facilitated groups, prototyping, etc.


Schedule & Resource Management

  • Develops and maintains the overall program and resource plans across multiple projects ensuring integration of supporting work breakdown structures and schedules.
  • Engages cross-functional teams.
  • Establishes work breakdown structure and supporting tasks and deliverables with clear ownership. Maintains schedule and adjusts as required to keep the project on-track.
  • Monitors business resource plans consistently and coordinates issues as required to close any resource gaps.

Risk Management

  • Works with supporting project teams to coordinate risk mitigation plan and action plans to address project and program issues as they arise.
  • Integrates project risks to scope, schedule, cost, or quality across a program or business.

Quality Management

  • Experience with Quality Control techniques, i.e., monitoring specific project results to discern whether they align with relevant quality standards, including proactive identification of issues that may impact quality delivery, managing overall project performance.
  • Experience in devising and handling corrective and preventive actions, and defect repairs.
  • Experience with measuring and reporting quality metrics and communicating results to key stakeholders and project teams.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve team performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.

Communications Management

  • Direct communications to satisfy the requirements of and resolve issues with project stakeholders.
  • Effective presenter, negotiator, collaborator - regardless of organizational structure or hierarchy.
  • Responsible to ensuring stakeholders are informed and remain current on project scope and progress, and act as the conduit through which partner feedback is delivered.

Portfolio Identification/Strategy Development

  • Supports the identification of business strategies and the development of business cases.
  • Collaborates with project sponsors to establish project scope and vision.
  • Elicits, analyzes, specifies, and validates the business needs of stakeholders.
  • Assists with the interpretation of customer requirements into feasible options, and communicating these back to the business stakeholders.

Additional Job Description

Required Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, mathematics, statistics, computer science, information technology, engineering or related field required
  • 5+ years of experience translating business needs to data requirements and turning data into compelling analytics

Preferred Experience & Education

  • Master’s Degree, preferably MBA
  • Robust Power BI skills
  • GM field sales/aftersales and/or demonstrated understanding of GM field/dealer network processes or GM dealership operations or retail automotive financial experience or dealer financial audit or fleet/commercial
  • Experience leading/influencing internal team members and external stakeholders and others who are not direct reports
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent analysis, problem-solving, team, interpersonal, negotiation, conflict management and time management skills

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

  • This position requires an employee to be onsite in Warren, Michigan 3 times per week.
